Reason behind cancellation

Why “Peacemaker” Season 2 ends is quite obvious. Full Nelson’s story ends with Chris being captured and taken to the ARGUS black site. They put him straight into the metahuman prison world that Flag had chosen. After all, the DC Universe is growing rapidly under new leadership. This means new focuses for their shows. James Gunn is now in charge of the DCU and he’s focusing on a very specific blueprint for what happens next. That effort may have taken priority over the foxhunting “Peacemaker,” much to the delight of its fans.

“Peacemaker” established a lot, but DC overlords may have decided it was no longer in their sights to move forward. Gunn confirmed at a press conference that it’s titled Salvation (again, we’ll get to that in just a moment).
